Negotiation for Mediators

This 14 hour course was designed as the negotiation component of The Mediation Training Certificate Program, as well as the ADR Practitioner Certificate Program. Trained mediators, whose training did not include negotiation, will benefit from this course, and are welcome to register without having to register for any of our other courses. Being an effective Mediator requires a deep understanding of Negotiation. This 14 hour course focuses on helping learners in mediation training understand mediation from the perspective of the parties they are mediating. It will focus on effective ways to prepare for a negotiation, participate in a negotiation to meet the needs of everyone involved, and writing up an agreement. The course is full of tips and practice to develop a deeper understanding of an interest-based negotiation model so you can facilitate others through their negotiation. Effective August 1, 2026 Successful completion of Mediation Foundations 1.1. Course dates and times are based on Mountain Standard Time and could be adjusted to best meet the time zones of the final list of participants. 12 hours in class (Zoom) plus 2 hours of asynchronous work to be completed on your own, pre-course, and between sessions. The idea of preventing someone from registering for a course makes us all crazy, so we won’t do that. However, we need to order printing a week before the course and make final decisions about the number of coaches to bring in, and confirm the size of the classroom being rented. Therefore, we hope you will register as soon as possible (knowing we’ll be kind and easy to deal with if you have to cancel) and in exchange, we will keep registration open until the day before the course. We will shut off online course registration a week before, however you can just give us a call at 780-460-7599 or send an email to admin@adrlearninginstitute.ca to register. We will confirm your registration and make sure we have all the materials you will need when you arrive on the course date.
