SUMMARY:Intercultural Communication Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Course InformationScheduleInstructorRegistration Cut-Off Cancellation PolicyCourse Information \nDesigned specifically for mediators-in-training and those working as ADR professionals in the field\, Intercultural Communication takes participants through self-guided and live session reflection on the influence of culture on communication and conflict. Beginning with 1-hour of individual pre-work and viewing a 1-hour video\, we will then explore and reflect during a 3-hour live virtual session. We’ll learn about and discuss our own cultural identity and unconscious bias\, the impact on presence\, communication style and conflict approach\, as well as discover ways to increase intercultural competence. The workshop will close with a reflective partner exercise to solidify and deepen learning. \nThis workshop includes: \n\nA 1-hour video: Stories that Work: Cross Cultural Mediation\nA pre-session e-workbook including short videos for 1-hour of self-guided learning\nA 3-hour live session via Zoom\, guided by a visual power-point and workbook\nBreak-out room peer discussions to integrate learning\nA closing 1-hour reflective partner assignment\n\nTotal time: 6 hours \nCost: $95.00 \nSchedule \nLive Session via Zoom: 3-6pm MST on Thursday\, February 25th\, 2021.  Pre-session materials and instructions will be sent out on February 19th\, 2021. \nInstructor \nNiki Kux-Kardos\, MA\, CEC\, PCC \nBeing raised in a family business\, Niki’s own succession challenges steered her toward a career in conflict management and leadership development. Niki brings a unique understanding of the intersection between relationships and business when it comes to organizational success. \nWorking with culturally diverse\, multi-generational and multi-faceted organizations led Niki to specialize in authentic leadership and values-based conflict management. For over 13 years\, Niki has worked with passion and purpose\, serving individuals\, teams and organizations from private family enterprise and non-profits to municipal and federal government. As an internal conflict management practitioner with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)\, she provided conflict coaching\, mediation\, facilitation\, work place assessments\, restorative process\, workshops and training to hundreds of people across British Columbia. \nKnown for her enthusiastic\, practical and engaging approach to training\, Niki invites personal self-awareness and professional development with supportive candor and clarity. An international speaker\, she is also coach faculty for the Justice Institute of B.C. and Royal Roads University\, and is an active member of the Society for Intercultural Education\, Training and Research and the International Coach Federation. \nRegistration Cut-Off \nThe idea of preventing someone from registering for a course makes us all crazy\, so we won’t do that.  However\, we need to order printing a week before the course and make final decisions about the number of coaches to bring in\, and confirm the size of the classroom being rented.  Therefore\, we hope you will register as soon as possible (knowing we’ll be kind and easy to deal with if you have to cancel) and in exchange we will keep registration open until the day before the course.  We will shut off online course registration a week before\, however you can just give us a call at 780-460-7599 or send an email to admin@adrlearninginstitute.ca to register.  We will confirm your registration and make sure we have all the materials you will need when you arrive on the course date. \nCancellation Policy \nWe know life happens.  Sometimes schedules change or the universe interferes with your plans.  Please provide us with as much notice as possible so we can provide you with a full refund and hopefully fill your spot.  If the universe doesn’t let you know until five or less days before the course\, then we will give you a full credit towards another course which you\, or someone you choose to transfer it to\, can use within a year.  If your financial situation is such that you just really need the money to be put back into your account\, then give us a call and we will provide a refund less any admin costs incurred through Pay Pal or Invoicing.
