Explore why humans are wired to avoid or attack and what triggers those responses.  Gain insight on what some of your key triggers are and how to manage your own emotional response.  Learn how to defuse emotional outbursts in others and ways to set limits on their expression of anger. \nSCHEDULE: \n\nSaturday\, June 5\, 2027 – 8:30 am – 4:00 pm MT\n\nOBJECTIVES: \n\nUnderstand anger and the role it plays\nIdentify your triggers\nLearn to de-escalate yourself\nDefuse another person’s anger\nSet limits on expressions of anger\nDisengage\n\nOUTLINE: \nThis course qualifies for 7 CPD hours from CPHR Alberta and covers: \n\nUnderstanding anger\nMeeting the animal within\nSurvival Cycle\nEmpowerment Cycle\nDefusing yourself\nUnderstanding the angry outbursts in others\nDefusing anger\nSetting limits on expressions of anger\nDisengaging\n\nPrice:\n$360.00 CAD  + tax*\n*Tax calculation is based on your place of residence. \nPre-requisite  \nPre-requisite: To get the most out of this course\, we recommend Communicating Through Conflict\,  or some prior communication skills training.  However\, this course can be taken as a stand-alone course.If you attend the two communication courses\, Communicating Through Conflict and Communicating Through Escalated Conflict\, in combination with Comfort in Conflict and Confidence in Conflict\, you will earn a Certificate in The Art of Conflict Resolution.  \nInstructor \nInstructor: Jaemi Bertrand – After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree from the University of Alberta\, Jaemi pursued training in Conflict Management through the ADR Institute of Alberta\, with 250+ hours of conflict resolution training. She holds certificates in Conflict Leadership\, Attuned Communication in Dispute Resolution\, Integrative Negotiation\, and Facilitative Mediation. She coaches and instructs in a variety of settings including the ADR Learning Institute (ADRLi)\, the University of Alberta School of Business\, ADR Institute of Alberta (ADRIA) and NAIT\, with a focus on the topics of conflict resolution and working with emotion. \nRegistration Cut-Off  \nThe idea of preventing someone from registering for a course makes us all crazy\, so we won’t do that.  However\, we need to order printing a week before the course and make final decisions about the number of coaches to bring in\, and confirm the size of the classroom being rented.  Therefore\, we hope you will register as soon as possible (knowing we’ll be kind and easy to deal with if you have to cancel) and in exchange we will keep registration open until the day before the course.  We will shut off online course registration a week before\, however you can just give us a call at 780-460-7599 or send an email to admin@adrlearninginstitute.ca to register.  We will confirm your registration and make sure we have all the materials you will need when you arrive on the course date. \nCancellation Policy \nRead our withdrawal\, deferral\, and refund policy here. \n\nRegister\nIf you have already taken a course with us\, please email coursesupport@adrlearninginstitute.ca for any further course registrations at this time. \n\nIf you are a new student or a representative of a new student\, please fill out the form below entering the information of the person taking the course. \n\n\n\n\n\nUpon hitting SUBMIT you will be taken to FlyWire for payment and will be required to fill out the information for the individual or organization being billed.
