Another goal of the workshop is to open a discussion on the underlying causes of harassment and discrimination complaints and possible ways to prevent complaints from becoming formal. This course has been designed for: Human Resource Staff, Union Representatives and Labour Relations Officers. As well as anyone else who wants to better understand the modern day complexities of fielding complaints of harassment and discrimination. People who want a simple tool for assessing the complaint, the complainant needs, and for determining the best options for moving towards resolution. Schedule: Scheduled for May 28th, 2019. Objectives: Instructor: Paula Drouin – Founder and President of ADR International Group Inc. Paula holds both National and International Mediator designations as well as a Master of Arts in Human Security and Peace Building. She is an experienced mediator, investigator, arbitrator, and workplace conflict assessor. Paula has been parachuting into government and non-government workplaces to assist with complaints and conflicts for over twenty-one years. Besides being a highly sought after conflict resolution specialist, she is also a respected course designer and facilitator who is simply motivated to create safe spaces for meaningful dialogue and learning. In November 2017 her company was contracted to field all harassment and discrimination complaints on an interim basis for the City of Edmonton. (see Edmonton Journal article links below) City management made the decision that all complaints would be handled externally and needed a company to step in overnight to cover all the calls while they worked on contracting a large firm to take the role over the long term. ADR International Group Inc. conducted intact, assessment and assigned files to various resolution options over several months. It was during this time that the tools being presented in this workshop were created to manage the large flow of complaints.
